Pierre de Bandt (b. 1970) studied law at the Catholic University of Leuven (1992) and obtained postgraduate degrees at the University of Brussels (Business Administration, 1994), the University of Chicago (LL.M., 1995) and King’s College (EC Competition law, 1999). He is editor in chief of "Tijdschrift voor Belgisch Handelsrecht", a major Belgian legal review.
He began his career in 1993 at the Catholic University of Leuven, as an assistant to Professor H. Cousy, and joined Hogan & Hartson LLP (Washington, D.C.) as an associate in 1995. He has been a member of the Brussels bar since 1996 and worked as an associate in a major Belgian law firm. From July 1999 to June 2004 he worked as a referendaire (law clerk) to the Hon. Judge Josef Azizi at the E.C. Court of First Instance. From July 2004 to October 2007 he returned to the Brussels bar where he joined the Eubelius Law Firm as a (non-equity) partner. He is a founding partner of & De Bandt.
Pierre de Bandt advises and assists clients on issues of European Law and of Belgian and European competition law (with a special focus on the regulated sectors), including all proceedings before the Belgian and European Courts and regulatory authorities. In addition, he also regularly assists clients in major national and international litigation and transactions, with a special focus on IP law and real estate law.
His working languages are French, Dutch, English, German, Spanish and Italian.
